Short stays in Hamilton and Cambridge, and who books them

Hamilton and Cambridge are only 26 minutes apart, but the guests who book a short-stay home in each are quite different. In Hamilton we host families supporting someone in Waikato Hospital, hospital staff on placement, business travellers and families moving to the city. Cambridge draws guests for regattas at Lake Karapiro, weddings and equestrian events, and families and work crews book longer stays there too.

Hamilton: a base for work, family and a move

Our Hamilton guests include families with someone in Waikato Hospital, who can need a place for a week or longer. Doctors and nurses on placement or short contracts book too, and after a long shift a quiet house suits them better than a hotel room.

Companies book homes for staff on secondment, project teams and contractors. Families relocating to Hamilton, some of them from overseas, need somewhere to live while they find their feet, and others need a place while their own home is renovated or repaired.

Cambridge: events, weddings and longer stays

Lake Karapiro hosts rowing and paddling regattas, there is track cycling at the velodrome and riding on the Te Awa river ride, and the town has equestrian events and weddings through the year. The Takapoto Classic show jumping event comes round each February, and the farmers' market fills Victoria Square on Saturday mornings. Travellers also stop in Cambridge on their way to Hobbiton.

We have lived in the Waikato for more than 20 years, and one team looks after our homes in both towns. Every home is listed on Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and our own booking site, I set the prices daily, and our own cleaners turn each home after every guest.
